In the post-match press conference following the International Champions Cup final, Chelsea boss José Mourinho sought to avoid a war of words with CR7 and refused to discuss the Real Madrid star's recent comments.
"I don't know what Cristiano Ronaldo said, it's not my problem. I give everything for Chelsea. I wish the best for Madrid; they have many people who I appreciate there, starting with the president and even the simplest employee. I have no problem saying I hope they win the league, I hope they win [even though] I'm not there anymore".
Asked about CR7's celebration, the Portuguese coach stated "Some goals we celebrated together and that’s what I’ll keep in my career. I hope he celebrates many more in La Liga and helps Madrid win La Liga".
Mou distanced himself from the controversy that erupted following his comments about Cristiano in the run-up to the game, calling it "your [the media's] movie". "To try to identify the person, I just told the true Ronaldo in relation to the Brazilian one. If someone asks me Thomas Müller and Gerd Müller, for me the real one is Gerd Müller because he's the first one".
