Sergio Ramos played down the importance of facing his now former manager at Real Madrid, José Mourinho during the pre-season friendly against Chelsea. "I haven't seen him yet. I have seen the rest of the coaching staff and I greeted them. I don't hold a grudge, that's for losers," said the defender.
This was Ramos' response which was posted on Real Madrid's official website: "You're the ones making a big drama out of this. We go out to do our best against any opponent, not because it's managed by Mourinho or because it’s Chelsea. We always give our all."
He spoke positively about the win over Chelsea. "Winning the tournament is good for our state of mind and to gain confidence. Now we’re going to continue preparing for the start of the league campaign," he explained.
The Real Madrid vice-captain said after the game against Chelsea that "everyone draws their own conclusions. Ours are positive. We played against a side that always makes things hard physically. We know their manager and what he expects from them. Real Madrid was motivated, played well as a team and the result was deserved."
Ronaldo, who already has five goals to his name so far this pre-season, was named man of the match and the tournament. "Cristiano doesn’t surprise us. He gives his all for the team. We’re pleased that he has reached the top of his game because Real Madrid is built around players like him," Ramos concluded.
