Benitez wants another striker at Napoli

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has revealed he is looking to sign another striker during the summer transfer window.

The Partenopei have already moved quickly to bolster their attacking options following the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain, with Dries Mertens, Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain all moving to San Paolo for a combined fee of more than 56 million euros.

Napoli has also been linked with a move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez, and Benitez is keen to add another name to his strike force in order for his side to challenge both domestically and in the Champions League.

"I want a striker at Higuain's level to be competitive in the league and the Champions League. Last year, Napoli had 14 alternatives. Three are gone, so there is a need for more reinforcements," he was quoted as saying by Repubblica.

Napoli beat Galatasaray 3-1 in a friendly on Monday and Benitez was pleased with his side's display in difficult weather conditions.

"It was not easy to play in this heat, but we were the protagonists. Of course, we can and definitely will improve," he added.
