The former Bianconeri coach believes that his old club are some way behind the continent's best teams and applauded Bayern Munich for their success
Marcello Lippi believes Juventus need a top-level striker in order to compete with Europe's best teams next season.
The Serie A champions were beaten by Bayern Munich 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and the former Bianconeri coach feels his side still have some progress to make.
"Juventus were unlucky to meet the Bayern, who were also at their best," the ex-Italy boss told Tuttosport.
"They need a striker of great level to try to win in Europe."
Lippi went on to say that the Bavarians are worthy Champions League winners, suggesting that Pep Guardiola has a tough task on his hands when he succeeds Jupp Heynckes in the summer.
"Bayern Munich are deservedly at the top of Europe. They arrived there thanks to their quality, class and the experience of a strong team," he added.
"Now they can win the treble. They have clear ideas and know what they want for the future, even if for Guardiola it will not be easy to proceed such a legacy."
