THANK YOU AND BONSOIR ... David Beckham leaves the field for the final time in Paris
DAVID BECKHAM has played his last game as a professional — and that is now official.
The former England captain was left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad for the trip to Lorient today in the final weekend of the French season.
Becks, 38, was given a standing ovation last Saturday night as he walked off the Parc des Princes pitch in tears when he was subbed after 81 minutes of PSG’s 3-1 win over Brest.
The manner of his exit — and the fact Lorient play on an artificial pitch — had sparked rumours that Beckham had already hung up his boots.
That was confirmed yesterday when PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti unveiled his squad for the new French champions’ game in Lorient — and Becks’ name was not in it.
The midfielder enjoyed phenomenal success with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and PSG.
In his 20-year career Becks won 19 trophies and 115 caps for the Three Lions, a record for an England outfield player.
