Heynckes proud of history-making Bayern

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes was "filled with pride" after watching his side beat Augsburg 3-0 on the day they were presented with Bundesliga trophy.

Although they already had sewn up the title over a month ago, the Bayern players and staff were officially presented with their medals on Saturday and they warmed up for the ceremony with a commanding victory thanks to goals from Thomas Muller, Xherdan Shaqiri and Luiz Gustavo.

With 88 points to their name and a game left to play in the current campaign, the Bavarian outfit are without doubt one of the most dominant sides German football has ever seen, and Heynckes insists there has not been another team that has matched his charges' performances.

"It's a joint achievement from the players and coaching staff," he said on the club's official website.

"No team in the history of the Bundesliga has played the football we've played this season, consistently at the highest level - it fill me with pride.

"We all know you'll be showered in beer at Bayern, but at least I've avoided pulling a muscle," he joked.

Bayern are still challenging for silverware on other fronts and have the DFB-Pokal final and the UEFA Champions League final to come, but star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was not getting too distracted on Saturday.

"We all know we still have games to play but today [Saturday] will be a long and intense celebration," he explained.

"We're still young and we can cope!"

Bayern will need to see off Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund to be crowned champions of Europe, while they face Stuttgart in the final of the DFB-Pokal.
