Cops probe Kompany race taunt
INTERVIEW ... abuse was shouted while Vincent Kompany was quizzed

POLICE are set to probe claims Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was racially abused after Monday night’s victory at Old Trafford.

The Belgian had just left the pitch following the 2-1 win and was being interviewed on TV with goalscorer James Milner.

Shouts were heard in the background while Kompany was speaking, including one which some believed was of a racist nature. Later, people on Twitter claimed the words used had been “black c***”.

Sky Sports presenter Ed Chamberlain apologised for the bad language shortly after the interview had finished.

A statement from police read: “Greater Manchester Police will work with both clubs and review any footage to investigate the incident.

“Racist abuse will not be tolerated.”

Kompany scored an own goal in the match, cancelling out Milner’s opener for City.

But a late strike from Sergio Aguero won it for the Blues.

City officials studied the footage and were satisfied the abuse aimed at their skipper was not racist.
