JACK WILSHERE hailed his Arsenal winner as the goal of his life.

The England star hit a divine 20-yarder in the 86th minute and admitted: “I don’t think I’ll hit one like that again.

"It was a great set-up from Olivier Giroud and it was important we got the goal.”

Victory took the Gunners through to a FA Cup fourth-round clash at Brighton. It was also a massive boost ahead of Sunday’s London derby at Chelsea.

Wilshere added: “We didn’t want extra-time with the tough game coming up at the weekend.”

Victory keeps alive Arsenal’s hopes on two fronts of ending an eight-year trophy drought. They are still in the FA Cup and Champions League, having not tasted glory since winning the 2005 FA Cup.

Gunners thoroughly deserved to win after dominating the second half and wasting a string of gilt-edged chances.

Wilshere insisted: “We had a lot of chances in the second half and couldn’t put it in. Luckily I was there at the end to do that.

“We know what the FA Cup means to people at the club, it’s a great competition and we wanted to be in the next round.”

Wenger hailed Wilshere’s display as well as the way Arsenal bounced back from Sunday’s loss to Manchester City.

He said: “Jack was outstanding. Many players played well. We created chance after chance. It was unbelievable we couldn’t score. We got our reward.”

Swans chief Michael Laudrup said: “They deserved the win for their second half.
They had two or three chances where you said it maybe a matter of time before they score. And it was a great performance from Wilshere.”
