'Car kill’ ex-footie ace free
Scott Sellars ... asleep at wheel

AN ex-Premier League footballer walked free from court yesterday after he admitted falling asleep at the wheel and killing a motorcyclist.

Former Blackburn Rovers star Scott Sellars, 47, had gone straight to his work as a youth coach at Man City following an overnight flight from Dubai.

He hit Yamaha rider Simon Burnett, 47, after nodding off in his BMW on the A6 in Derbyshire in April 2011.

Sellars, who also played for Leeds and Newcastle United during a career of more than 500 games, admitted causing death by careless driving.

He was given a six-month suspended jail term and ordered to do 300 hours of community work at Nottingham Crown Court. He also got a two-year road ban.
