WAYNE Rooney has revealed he is hooked on US politics — and tips Barack Obama to win next month’s presidential elections.

The Man Utd striker has told how he was glued to all THREE live televised debates between Democrat Obama and his Republican rival Mitt Romney.

The debates, shown throughout October from Colorado, New York and Florida, didn’t even kick off until around 2am in Britain — testing viewers’ staying powers.

But Roo — who turned 27 yesterday — tweeted to fans: “Watched all the presidential debates. If I had to vote, would vote Obama.”

To mark his birthday Rooney was presented with a cake by his two-year-old son. He added: “Woke up to lots of presents and a nice cake from Kai.”

Last night political experts said the Premier League star’s unexpected support could actually HELP Obama be returned as president on November 6.

A Man Utd spokesman confirmed the club has eight million supporters in the US — one in 38 of the population — and that many could follow his lead.
