The Blaugrana are interested in the former Deportivo favourite's offspring after being impressed by the 10-year-old in a tournament featuring Barca, Real Madrid and Porto
Barcelona are close to signing Nicolas Gonzalez, according to Deportivo legend Fran Gonzalez, after the former Spain international revealed that there is an opportunity for his son to join the Catalans.
The 2011-12 La Liga runners-up were made aware of the 10-year-old's talents when he was involved in a tournament that saw youngsters from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Porto all play alongside Nicolas' side, Montaneros.
Fran Gonzalez, who featured for Deportivo more than 500 times and helped them claim their first Primera Division title, told La Xarxa: "He is still very young, but we are seriously considering moving the family to Barcelona.
"There was a tournament where he had the opportunity to play against children two years older than him from Barca, Madrid and Porto, and he was lucky enough to score three goals.
"Nothing has stopped from then, and now there is an opportunity [for Nicolas] to go to Barca, which is an idea I love."
