Manchester United hone in on £5m Ajax wonderkid Viktor Fischer

Manchester United are expected to step up their interest in Ajax striker Viktor Fischer after he was described by Denmark Under-19 coach Thomas Frank as the new ' Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo' .

Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to put aside up to £5million to land the teenager, according to reports in Holland, and his recent form has only increased the hype around the 18-year-old.

He burst onto the scene during last season’s inaugural NextGen Series tournament - in which he finished top scorer with seven goals as a strong Ajax side reached the final – and has hit the ground running in this season’s competition.

The forward, who scored a hat-trick against Liverpool last season, was at it again with a trio against Molde earlier this week.

'Fischer is special. He can be just like Messi or Ronaldo,' said Frank.

'He has their ambition and talent, and he always wants to score. He is hungry, always hungry, even if he has scored two or three times.'

Despite flirting with the first team in pre-season, Fischer has admitted he would consider a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA as he enters the final two years of his contract.
