Airdrie United striker John Boyle looks set to miss out against visitors Cowdenbeath after picking up a knee injury when he scored last weekend against Dunfermline.

Manager Jimmy Boyle has given the frontman only a 50/50 chance of playing while Grant Evans, Ryan Donnelly, Willie McLaren and Scott Sally are also injured.

Boyle said: "This will be a tough game against a side we never got the better of in the Second Division last season. It would be great to get a win over them now but we will have to work incredibly hard to do that.

"They have started the season well and have a bit of momentum after three wins in a row without conceding a goal."

Cowdenbeath's new signing Pablo Navas is not ready to make his debut.

Manager Colin Cameron wants the Spanish playmaker to get more match practice before launching him into the First Division.

The Blue Brazil are also without the injured David Cowan, Mark Ramsay and Liam Cusack as they look to make it a hat-trick of league wins.

Cameron said: "Last season we were in the Second Division with Airdrie so we know each other well. We won 5-1 at their place this time last year but then on our second visit we struggled to get a draw as they had improved."

"They have kept on improving so this will be a really hard game to win."
