Milan consider Bendtner move

AC Milan are reportedly weighing up a move for Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner as they prepare for life without Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Nicklas Bendtner spent the whole of last season out on loan at Sunderland and was often one of the first names on Steve Bruce's team sheet, helping them to a 13th place finish in the Barclays Premier League.

His impressive performances for the Black Cats have apparently caught the eye of AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is desperate to strengthen his squad after both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, two of the club's best players, left to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The departure of Ibrahimovic has hit the Rossoneri extra hard, leaving the AC Milan forward line severely depleted. The only recognised out-and-out strikers remaining in the club are Italian international Antonio Cassano and injury-prone Alexandre Pato, neither of whom are very effective in slotting into the target man role that Ibrahimovic used to play.

Bendtner on the other hand, is no stranger to leading the forward line as a target man, having done so for his country at the recent European Championships and his strength, ability in the air and technical abilities make him a handful for any defence.

The confident 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at Arsenal after a series of off-the-pitch indiscretions and has been publicly seeking a way out of the Emirates Stadium, even previously claiming that he would never play for the Gunners again.

According to the Mirror, Milan are expected to make a move for Bendtner within the next few days, with a £7.5 million bid being prepared to bring the striker to the San Siro. They are however likely to face competition from Turkish outfit Galatasaray, who are also reportedly keen to sign the former Boldklub Copenhagen player.

Bendtner made 31 appearances for Sunderland last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists in the process.
