Diego Forlan: Said to be staying at the San Siro despite links to return to South America
Diego Forlan is set to stay with Inter Milan after reports suggested he may leave Italy following a poor first season at the San Siro.
The Uruguayan striker, player of the tournament at the 2010 World Cup, joined Inter on a two-year deal from Atletico Madrid a year ago but struggled to make an impact.
Hampered by injuries, the 32-year-old scored just twice and was recently linked with a move to Atletico Mineiro of Brazil.
However, Forlan's father, Pablo, claims his son is set to stay with Inter for the 2012/13 season.
"For the time being there is no negotiation with any club," Forlan senior told www.fcinternews.it.
"As it is now, he will remain at Inter. He has one year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri."
Towards the end of last season, which saw Inter finish sixth in Serie A, Forlan spoke of his determination to make a success of his time with the club.
He said: "I want to stay at Inter. You haven't seen the real Forlan yet."
