Partick Thistle 1 : 1 Raith Rovers - Paton proves problematic for Partick
Posted Saturday, April 14, 2012 by PA
Paul Paton's own goal was enough for Raith to salvage a 1-1 draw at Partick and avoid dropping into the relegation play-off place.
Partick almost went ahead early on, but Sean Welsh headed wide from close range.
The home side pressed again midway through the first half but Chris Erskine's rasping effort was parried by David McGurn.
Their pressure was rewarded after 63 minutes when Paul Cairney's cross was drilled in from 12 yards.
But Raith snatched an equaliser 10 minutes later when the unfortunate Paton headed high into the roof of the net to give the goalkeeper no chance
The away side could have grabbed an injury time winner, but Jonathan Stewart's powerful effort was punched away by Scott Fox.
