Damian Casalinuovo rescued a vital point for 10-man Raith with a last-minute leveller in the 2-2 draw with relegation rivals Ayr.
Brian Graham put the home side ahead after 13 minutes with a left-footed strike for his fifth goal in his last four games before he was shown a straight red card for foul and abusive language seven minutes before the break.
The visitors then made the most of their numerical advantage as they turned the tie around.
Striker Mark Roberts equalised with a penalty into the bottom right corner in the 64th minute after Jason Thomson fouled Liam Tomsett and Edward Malone looked to have won it for Ayr when he curled a free kick into the top right corner from 20 yards 11 minutes from time.
But substitute Casalinuovo slotted Grant Murray's header home from the edge of the area at the death to leave his side one place and two points behind their opponents.
