East Fife 2 : 2 Brechin City - Penalty agony for Sloan
Posted Tuesday, March 06, 2012 by PA
Robert Sloan missed the chance to clinch victory and a hat-trick in the final minute as East Fife drew 2-2 with Brechin.
Sloan, who had bagged a first-half brace including a penalty, saw his second spot-kick saved by Brechin goalkeeper Craig Nelson.
The visitors took the lead in the 21st minute when Paul McManus was on hand to fire home Bryan Hodge's cross.
But the Fifers hit back four minutes later, Sloan scoring from the spot after Paul McLean felled Scott Dalziel.
David McKenna restored Brechin's lead in the 34th minute with a fine finish from the edge of the area.
Sloan hit back again to level things up on the stroke of half-time with a fine free-kick from distance.
Sloan could have been the hero in the closing stages but instead it was Nelson as he produced a fine save following Craig Molloy's challenge on Ryan Wallace.
