Goals by Gary Medel and Jesus Navas saw Sevilla come from behind to claim a shock 2-1 victory at Valencia in the Primera Division.

Tino Costa put the hosts ahead in the 25th minute before Medel equalised nine minutes before the break.

Navas then secured victory for Michel's team as they claimed their second successive win to seemingly leave behind a woeful run of form which had seen them take just two points from 24 before beating Osasuna.

Valencia had the first chance, Roberto Soldado heading over from six yards from Jordi Alba's near-post corner.

Although the hosts were enjoying the greater possession they had not created many clear chances until they took the lead halfway through the first half with an impressive strike by Costa.

Costa received a pass from Jonas 25 yards out and drilled a low shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.

However, Sevilla - despite creating little - levelled matters 10 minutes before half-time when Navas' cross from the right found Medel in the centre of the penalty area and the midfielder headed home.

Neither side was really on top in the initial exchanges following the break, although Sevilla started to show more.

Jonas' long-range shot was held by Sevilla keeper Andres Palop but it was the visitors who came closest to taking the lead when Jose Reyes' strike was tipped round the post by Vicente Guaita.

Sevilla then went ahead with 20 minutes left through Navas although Valencia boss Unai Emery will be disappointed in his defence given Frederic Kanoute, in the centre of the area, could find his team-mate in the six-yard box to slot home in the middle of the goal.

Costa and Aritz Aduriz both tried from distance and the hosts forced a number of corners as time wound down.
