Airdrie United 0 - 3 Stenhousemuir - Smith at the double

Gary Smith celebrated the extension of his loan deal at Stenhousemuir with a brace in a 3-0 defeat of Airdrie.

The Warriors flew out of the blocks as Sean Dickson drilled a Jamie Campbell cross past Grant Adam in the fourth minute.

Campbell was again the architect early in the second half, playing in Smith who coolly slotted home when one-on-one to double the lead.

Airdrie failed to carve out any clear-cut opportunities, striker Sean Lynch being restricted to long-range efforts that never threatened the goal.

The scoreline was given the gloss Stenhousemuir deserved when Smith again showed a cool head to despatch Brown Ferguson's pass into the bottom corner.

Graeme Owens hit the bar late on for Airdrie with a sumptuous volley but it was too little too late for The Diamonds.
