Queen of South 2 : 1 Greenock Morton - Parkin drives Queens to win
Posted Saturday, January 28, 2012 by PA
Sam Parkin netted twice in the second half as Queen of the South defeated Morton 2-1 to lift themselves off the bottom of the league.
Queens just about shaded a poor first half, with Morton's Colin Stewart forced to palm away a Daniel Carmichael effort in a rare shot on goal.
The home side went ahead after 58 minutes when an inviting Gavin Reilly cross was coolly slotted home by Parkin, and he volleyed home his second seven minutes later, meeting a Nicky Clark centre to clinically finish.
Archie Campbell gave Morton hope with 15 minutes to go, collecting Darren McGeouch's pass to fire home from close range.
Morton almost equalised after 83 minutes, but Marc Smyth somehow headed a McGeouch corner over the crossbar and the home side held on.
