The situation is not going to get any easier for our referees this season that is for sure.

The title race was blown open again by Monday's defeat for City at Chelsea.

I had not ruled out the Blues anyway. But they have brought Roberto Mancini's boys back into line and even though they are still my favourites to win the title it's going to go to the wire.

From City in first, down to Liverpool 12 points behind there are six teams all with a decent hope of winning it.

And if you go to the bottom of the table, the relegation battle is wide open, too.

Chelsea have got some tough characters. Look at the way Frank Lampard came off the bench to score the penalty that won the match for his team.

That's what he's all about. That's what you get from him.

Chelsea have an abundance of characters like Frank, John Terry and Ashley Cole who can be relied upon when the nerves get going.

They have got everything City have and do NOT rule them out of the running.

Mental toughness counts for so much, especially in the second half of the season.
