Novara Calcio vs Siena preview - Sannino serene before Novara clash

Siena coach Giuseppe Sannino hopes last weekend's 2-0 triumph over Cesena can inspire his side to record their first away win of the season at Novara on Wednesday.

The Tuscan outfit have picked up three points out of a possible 12 on their travels and have had to rely on their home form to remain above the relegation zone.

Sunday's victory lifted Siena to 11th in the Serie A table.

"We won a very difficult game," Sannino said. "I'm happy because this win gives us the necessary calmness to face a complicated week ahead.

"We need to play with the same intensity as we have done in our recent games and I'm certain if we do so, we can do well.

"We need to try to do better on our away games, starting against Novara."

Novara have lost just one match at home this season.

However, they head into the encounter at the Silvio Piola stadium on the back of two straight defeats, including last weekend's 3-0 loss at Udinese.

The outcome dropped Novara to 17th place, one point clear of the drop zone.

Novara coach Attilio Tesser believes his team will bounce back immediately.

"Aside from the results, what is important is that the side is playing good football," he said.

"We have come up against some tricky opposition so far, but in the coming weeks I hope the team will start collecting points as we square up against sides lower down the standings."

Novara's main problem has been in defence with the Biancoazzurri having given away 10 goals in the last four games.
