QPR owner Tony Fernandes wants the club to stay in White City when he considers a move from their Loftus Road stadium.

Fernandes is looking for a new site as their current home, situated near the Westfield shopping centre and BBC headquarters, only holds 18,300.

“There’s potential for another stadium,” Fernandes said. “The most obvious one would be somewhere in White City.

“There are parcels of land around there, some owned by the BBC. Westfield has opened up a lot of potential and we would be looking for a stadium of 40-45,000.”

Fernandes has invested in Joey Barton, Anton Ferdinand, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Luke Young since his takeover – but insists there will be no reckless spending.

“You don’t get success by spending hundreds of millions of pounds,” he said. “Look at Fernando Torres, dropped by Spain, dropped by Chelsea, and that’s a lot of money potentially down the drain.”

Meanwhile, Danny Gabbidon may be fit to face Aston Villa at the weekend after a scan revealed no serious damage after the defender injured his knee.
