An injury-time goal from Sebastian Giovinco earned Parma a 2-1 triumph over Chievo, although his joy was marred when he was sent off a minute later for a second bookable offence.
The hosts released all their frustration at losing 4-1 at Juventus in their opening game on a Chievo side that struggled from the start.
Giovinco put Parma in front in the 24th minute before substitute Alberto Paloschi equalised with 11 minutes remaining.
With the game looking to be heading for a draw, Giovinco came to the rescue and scored his second of the day in stoppage time.
Giovinco was sent off one minute later for a second bookable offence.
Parma enjoyed a strong start and almost took the lead in the seventh minute.
Graziano Pelle got his head behind Daniele Galloppa's cross and his effort went just wide of the far post.
Giovinco then saw his 25-yard effort go over the bar as Parma got closer.
Parma went in front soon after.
Chievo failed to clear the ball inside the area and Giovinco struck from the heart of the area past visiting goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.
Parma could have doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time.
Francesco Valiani fed Giovinco inside the box and he struck the ball just wide of the near post.
Chievo were unlucky not to equalise early in the second half when Bojan Jokic's free-kick struck the bar with Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante already beaten.
However, Chievo's efforts paid off in the 79th minute.
A defensive distraction from Parma left an unmarked Paloschi in the six-yard box and he made no mistake from close range.
Chievo's joy was shortlived as Parma got back in front shortly after.
Giovinco got behind substitute Jonathan Biabiany's cross and fired a left-footed shot past Sorrentino.
However, Giovinco's afternoon was overshadowed when he got his marching orders following a second yellow card deep into injury time.
