Albion Rovers FC vs Stenhousemuir preview - Injuries pile up for Albion
Posted Saturday, September 17, 2011 by PA
Albion could be without seven players when Stenhousemuir visit.
Ciaran Donnelly and Ryan McStay are banned, while injury is keeping Todd Lumsden and Barry Russell sidelined.
Simon Marriot, Michael O'Byrne and John Gemmell face fitness tests, although Joseph Acquah is available again after injury.
Rovers lost 4-0 to neighbours Aidrie last Saturday but manager Paul Martin is determined to enjoy life in the Second Division following promotion.
He said: "We still love life in this division and have been looking forward to this game since the final whistle last week.
"We will use it as an opportunity to show that we are a better side than recent results have shown."
Stenhousemuir are again without Kevin McKinlay (broken shoulder) and manager David Irons is awaiting news on the fitness of Sean Dickson, Paul McHale and Eric Paton before finalising his squad.
Irons is looking for an improvement in his side's performance after being left with a feeling of disappointment after last weekend's 2-2 draw at Stirling.
Irons said: "We were certainly not at our best and need to get back to that against Albion Rovers.
"They will be coming out highly motivated after a number of disappointments and looking to get a win to move them up that table.
"We need to play at the standard we set before the Stirling game as Albion are not going to sit back and let us take the points."
