Twente has denied that a deal has been struck to take star striker Bryan Ruiz to Portuguese giants Benfica.

Reports emerging from Portugal on Saturday are stating that the Costa Rican international will join Benfica for 7 million euros, with the player earning around €100,000 a month from the proposed deal.

However, a spokesperson for Twente has denied any such deal, telling Dutch news agency ANP: "We cannot confirm a move. To our knowledge, there has been no agreement."

Ruiz is believed to be in high demand with Porto, Sevilla and Villarreal also being linked to the 25-year-old striker.

The player joined the Eredivisie outfit from Gent in 2009 for 5 million euros, scoring nine goals last season in 27 league games.

Ruiz is currently in Gold Cup action for Costa Rica, with the nation playing their final Group A game on Sunday against Mexico where a point will see them progress to the quarter-finals.
