I have a say

Jordan Henderson has quashed any belief that he has 'made it' and insists that his game still has a long way to go.

Henderson became a key figure in Steve Bruce's Sunderland side last season and his performances have earned him a call-up to the senior England squad and a huge move to Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool.

Henderson however, has picked out some specific points where he can improve.

"As a young footballer, if you think you have made it you are on a downward slope," he said.

"I need to score more goals, get into attacking positions more often and finish."

Henderson is currently preparing for the England Under-21's summer tournament and has expressed a desire for a long international career after making his senior debut last November against France.

He said: "Making my debut was a great moment - something special.

"It was only once though and I can’t stop there. If I work hard, hopefully more caps will come - that is my aim.

“When I was young, football was all I wanted to do. Everyone said 'get a fall-back option', but I only had football on my mind. I was confident I could achieve that.

“I am doing it for real now and it is a dream to play for your country or your club.

"When I get picked for any side, I just remember what an honor it is - and how from the age of six it is what I’ve practiced and trained to do.”
