Challandes left Neuchatel Xamax last week after an 18-day spell working for the club’s new Chechen owners, who then appointed former Brazil international Sonny Anderson as coach.
Challandes began last season with FC Sion but was fired in February following a series of poor results.
He replaces Murat Yakin, who left Thun to coach Lucerne.
THUN, Switzerland (AP)—Swiss club FC Thun has hired coach Bernard Challandes to take charge of his third top-tier team in less than five months.
Thun says Challandes signed a one-year contract with the club, which has qualified for the Europa League preliminary rounds next season.
