Great Britain's Johanna Konta beat Venus Williams 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 on Sunday (24th July) to win the Ban of the West Classic in Stanford - her first title on the WTA Tour.
Johanna Konta stood on the verge of her first WTA title in Stanford on Sunday.
Venus Williams stood in the Brits way, but Konta was not overawed by the occasion as she gained an early brake.
And this proved crucial as she took the opening set 7-5.
Konta took a 4-1 in the second, but Williams fought back taking six of the next seven games to level the match at one set all.
However, Konta regained control and breezed the final set 6-2 to take her first WTA title.
A landmark moment in the Brit's career.
