Argentina completed a 3-1 win over Italy in their Davis Cup quarter-final in Pesaro on Sunday (17th July) with victory in the opening reverse singles.
France beat the Czech Republic 3-1 in their Davis Cup quarter-final in Trinec on Sunday (17th July) with victory in the opening reverse singles.
Nine hours and two minutes - that's how much time Fabio Fognini was forced to spend on court over the weekend due to several injuries to teammates.
It's no wonder then that the Italian could not stop Federico Delbonis in their decisive Davis Cup encounter in Pesaro on Sunday.
Fognini's marathon began on Saturday as he triumphed in his first singles encounter to level the match between Italy and Argentina at 1-1.
He then played the epic 4 hour doubles match that Italy lost in five sets.
That meant he had to beat Delbonis in order for Italy to stay in the contest but the Italian couldn't muster the strength to defeat his Argentinian opponent.
Nevertheless he put up quite a fight, eventually losing in fourt sets, 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 after over three and half hours on court.
The win for Delbonis means Argentina progress and will face the winner of the tie between Great Britain and Serbia in the semi-finals.

In France meanwhile, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was on court looking to wrap up a win that would see France progress to the last four of the competition.
The Frenchman looking to make up for his defeat in the opening singles match against the Czech Republic.
And he did just that as he beat Jiri Vesely 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 7-5 to ensure France win 3-1 and move on.
They will now wait for the of the match between the USA and Croatia in the semis.
