Bernard Tomic battled back pain and Gilles Muller to reach the semifinals at the Aegon Championships at the Queen's Club in London on Friday (17th June).
Australia's Bernard Tomic pulled out some serious shot-making to beat Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 7-6 4-6 6-2. The win puts him through to Saturdays's semi-finals of the Aegon Championships at the Queen's Club in London.
Muller hit 26 aces during the 99-minute match and looked to be in the ascendence after taking the second set, but Tomic converted two of five break points in the decider to advance.
The twenty-three-year-old - whose best surface is grass - achieved his highest ever grand slam performance at Wimbledon aged 18, and his semifinal spot at Queen's is a career-best. It's all the more outstanding given that he had doubts about taking to court for his QF after back spasms earlier in the day. Assuming his body holds up, the Australian will face Canadian third seed Milos Raonic in the last four.
