A team of Springbok Rugby Legends, including players from the victorious World Cup squads of 1995 and 2007, have played a friendly in Lisbon against a Portuguese team.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Percy Montgomery (Springboks, first Springbok to 100 caps, Rugby 2007 World cup winner):
"Ah Jesus, it's a huge difference (from 1995), we've all seen how sport brings a nation together and that was definitely started in the 1995 World Cup with Mr Nelson Mandela, Madiba, you know. It was a huge thing for South Africa winning the World cup and it brought the Nation together and we've just seen what it means. Sport does bring people together"
SOUNDBITE: (English) John Smit (2007 World cup winner, former South Africa captain):
"So great memories (winning 2007 World Cup), one day that you lift the cup, it's a long journey to get there. So, to be able to be with some of the guys against and have some fun and bring the game to Portugal, it's special"
SOUNDBITE (English) Danie Gerber (Springboks team manager, and former player):
"After the '95 World Cup we could see a difference between all races and they supported South Africa rugby very well if you just watch test matches, there's a lot of them, because we also have a lot of big soccer players. There is a lot of rugby kids playing our rugby since 1995 and that is a great thing for South Africa because there is a lot of talent in South Africa by the black rugby players so, it changed everything"
