Michael Cheika has extended his contract with the Australian Rugby Union to remain as head coach of the Wallabies through to the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

(on laying down the foundations for future of Australian Rugby):

"I'm very happy. I had a contract already until 2017 so it was nothing really different in the short term. It's nice to know we're going to get another chance to work towards a World Cup and put some foundations in place that will last beyond this team. I'm here until 2019 then the next coach and the coach after that and we can start growing things properly and start to lay the right foundations across national and state teams so we can be as successful as possible.

(on expectation on the team):

"I don't have any expectation apart from doing my absolute best. That should mean improving every day. What we did yesterday is not going to be good enough for what we want tomorrow. I'm really clear on that and I don't feel that now it's okay that people don't expect anything from you. It's not okay if they do. I try to set my own standards for the team and for me and understand not the expectation but how people want to support us. We want them to enjoy the games, through the good and the bad times and ride that roller coaster with us. I don't feel anything like that and I'm looking forward to the series coming up."
