SNTV spoke to Amanaki Mafi following the Tongan-born Japan international's recent move to English Premiership side Bath
SOUNDBITE: (English) Amanaki Mafi, Bath number eight (on England coach Eddie Jones):
"He's a fantastic coach. I think England is in good hands now. He's a funny man, everywhere, but he's a tough guy as well. So…. comparing Japan to England…. very difficult, 'cause they are different. 'Cause a lot of good players in England, more skilful, and…. they will have Eddie Jones for, to lift up England rugby to where they used to be."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Mike Ford, Bath head coach
(on Amanaki Mafi's debut for Bath):
"For him to come into a team that's low on confidence, away from playing, a game that's away from home, to play a game against a team that's got loads of desire and energy, he was phenomenal. I mean he made 19 carries. I can't remember the last player for Bath, I don't think anyone's made 19 carries in my time, and nine or ten of them were over the gainline, which is a massive go forward for you that."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Amanaki Mafi, Bath number eight
(on his debut against Worcester):
"It's a bit hard, tough, because…. due to the weather, windy, so cold. Different from Japan. But, maybe it was the start, getting used to it."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Amanaki Mafi, Bath number eight
(on the difference the 2015 World Cup campaign made to players when they returned to Japan):
"Before we, came to the World Cup, no one knew us. I think maybe even the Japanese people they don't trust in us. But after the World Cup (it) was, a different story. But…. yes, really amazing, but Japanese rugby is growing up now, so we are happy."
