Scotland coach Vern Cotter and captain Greig Laidlaw spoke on Wednesday (27th January), at the launch of the Six Nations Championship which starts on Saturday (6th February).

"If I take it back a bit further and speak about last year's Six Nations which was incredibly frustrating for us. We produced some good play but didn't get results and we used that frustration and the information and things we learned from that tournament to propel us into the World Cup and we had three months work and yeah, we did, we had a reasonable World Cup. Perhaps it could have been better but we're using those experiences well and we're focusing on the learning from that, we've just got to focus on what we can do ourselves. The team has come back together, yeah, the dust has settled. That game (quarter-final against Australia) won't be forgotten, it cant be but we're moving on to what's next and the next game is against England so it's all about how we focus and prepare for that and what we can do to influence outcomes."

"Definitely. I think it's always a good thing for players when the team itself is slightly more settled and I believe we've probably got that at the moment. Scotland probably, that's the first time in a while."

"Yeah, we believe it's important, there's a lot of excitement in the country but at the same time and in the same breath we can't take that responsibility onto the field with us when we play because it will wear us down. We need to separate that and we need to simply focus on playing well , concentrate for the full 80 minutes, 100 minutes whatever it is and if we do that we'll be in a much better place for winning games of rugby."
