Wasps ran in seven tries as they demolished visitors Leinster 51-10 on Saturday (23rd January) to seal their place in the quarter-finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Wasps hosted Leinster in the two sides' final game of the Champions Cup pool stage on Saturday, with the former looking for a bonus-point win that would ensure their place in the quarter-finals.
Three-time former European champions Leinster, in contrast, were only playing for pride after picking up just one win and six points from their first five games in Pool Five.
But it was the visitors that opened the scoring in the third minute at the Ricoh Arena - South African winger Zane Kirchner touching down in the corner.
Wasps responded, however, and Jimmy Gopperth converted his own try for 7-5
The soon increased their lead with another - Joe Launchbury with the try this time.
A sin-binning for Lorenzo Cittadini gave Leinster the chance to get back into the game - Eoin Reddan following up the penalty with this try.
Gopperth added two more penalties for Wasps as they took an 18-10 lead into the break.
The second half was a different story, though as the hosts came out firing.
Elliot Daly's superb effort from the halfway line surely won't have escaped Eddie Jones' attention.
Four further second-half tries and 36 unanswered points saw Wasps cruise to a 51-10 win.
The heaviest defeat suffered by Leinster in European competition was enough to seal Wasps' place in the last eight, and they finished top of the final Pool Five standings after Toulon failed to pick up a bonus-point win at Bath.
Wasps will play their quarter-final at home unless Ospreys pick up a bonus point away to Exeter in Pool Two on Sunday.
