After trailing 23-0 at the break, Ulster kept alive their hopes of progressing in rugby union's European Champions Cup Pool 1 with a stunning 24-23 win at Oyonnax on Sunday

This match was all about an epic comeback that'll live long in Champions Cup history.

Oyonnax entertained Ulster in Pool 1 and the wet conditions played to the French side's strength. Hooker Jeremie Maurouard began proceedings with a try on seven minutes.

Oyonnax were on a roll, Nicky Robinson added the conversion and then three successive penalties. Then Ulster coughed up the ball 10 metres out, Uwa Tawalo picked up and outsprinted Ian Humphreys over an 80-metre race to the line.

23 up at the break, Oyonnax looked set to break their Championship duck.

But Ulster had other ideas, the experienced Ruan Pienaar and Paddy Jackson came on at half-back, and powerful Nick Williams joined the pack. It paid off, Rory Scholes here racing 30 metres to the line.

Then two tries in the space of four minutes from Craig Gilroy and loosehead prop Kyle McCall. Both were converted by Jackson - 10 minutes to go and game on.

An error from Horace Pungea gifted Jackson the chance to put his side in front. Just a point now separated the sides. The closing minutes were tight but Ulster clung on to set up a belter of a trip to Allianz Park to face Saracans in round five.
