Holders Toulon came from behind to inflict a fourth straight Champions Cup defeat on Leinster, whose slim hopes of reaching the quarter-finals were ended.
European survival was at stake for Leinster when they hosted Toulon in their fourth European Champions Cup game on Saturday.
And they made the brighter start., finding themselves ahead thanks to the boot of Johnny Sexton after the hosts capitalised on Duane Vermeulen being sin binned.
However, Toulon hit back minutes later when Juan Smith went over from close range, as the hosts went into the break 16-5 up.
The re-start saw momentum begin to shift withToulan reducing the deficit after being awarded a penalty try.
And minutes later they took the lead for the first time in the match - Anthony Etrillard powering over the line.

Elsewhere In Pool 2, Ospreys kept alive their European Champions Cup quarter-final hopes despite defeat to Bordeaux Begles.
A frenetic start saw two tries within four minutes. Bordeaux-Begles' Julien Rey after just 63 seconds - with Justin Tipuric levelling the try count soon afterwards.
And by half time, tries by Berend Botha and Sofiane Guitoune had given Bordeaux a commanding 25-10 lead.
But Ospreys launched a second half fight back. First though Eli Walker.
But it was short-lived thanks as Yann Lesgourgues extended the French side's lead by 15 points
Late tries from Alun Wyn Jones and Dan Biggar made for a pulsating climax as Ospreys pushed for a win, but it wasn't enough to stop the hosts completing a thrilling victory.
