SOUNDBITE: (English) Dan Carter, player of the year (on winning the World Cup)
"It's been a fairytale finish, an absolute dream come true this last 24 hours. I never expected this (award) I was just happy to be part of this World Cup winning side but to win back to back World Cup's and have the finish on what has been an amazing career, I've just been so fortunate. When you win awards like these, you can't help but think of your team mates. These are the guys that got me to where I am and it's a special bunch of guys and I'm just blessed to be part of a unique team."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Dan Carter, player of the year (on career highlights)
"There are a couple that spring to mind of favourite moments in the black jersey. The first one was my very first game, 2003. That's when the dream became a reality and ever since I got a taste for it on that day in 2003, I never wanted it to finish and here I am standing here and it has finished so the other special moment was last night. Being able to play in a World Cup final, a successful World Cup final, it's just a fairytale finish and I just count myself so lucky."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Michael Cheika, Australia coach (on this being a "win" over New Zealand coach Steve Hansen)
"I don't think about it in that way I suppose. I'm a little bit surprised, he's coached a team to the World Cup. I've had a really great time with the team over the last year that I've been in and it's been a great journey for me. I've learnt a lot and it's true, it's not the one (trophy) that we wanted so it's a bit bitter-sweet I suppose."
