    Script:

Anne Buijs' splendid performance helped the Netherlands overpower Canada 3-0 in Pool L of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Buijs scored 22 points, including 17 spikes, three blocks and two aces, while Tabitha Love scored 14 for Canada.

The Netherlands held a slim lead 8-7 in the first set as Canada challenged them point-by-point. The Dutch team blanked Canada and built a three-point cushion at 11-7 but Canada were persistent and moved to within two points at 16-14. But the Netherlands took it late in the set to go one up; 25-22.

The second set was tied at five-all when humidity caused the stadium floor to move with the area under the net clearly not level. Play was delayed for 25 minutes while the problem was resolved.

When play resumed, the Netherlands quickly took control before securing the second set 25-16.

Canada moved into a 7-5 lead in the third set, but their joy was shortlived as Bujis exerted her dominance aided by some fine Dutch defence.

They then stretched their lead and Bujis completed the match with a block.

The Dutch have have qualified for the Final Four in Poland later this month.

    25-22, 25-16, 25-21 the win.
