The winds were blowing on Thursday (May 16) as the first round of the One Asia Tour's SK Telecom Open teed off at Pinx Golf Club in Jeju, South Korea.

K.J. Choi returned home to headline the event and he had the hot putter early on, picking up birdie here on eight to go to two-under after thirteen.

Choi ended the day five shots back of the lead after a first round three-under 69.

Park Do-kyu is at five-under after opening with a 67 that included this chip out of the trap for a birdie on seventeen, part of a run of five straight birdies to finish the day.

Kim Dae-sub fancied a bit of chip action and all, he had an even 72 on the first day of play, but he finished on a high with this birdie from the fringe to end his opening round.

Scott Laycock completed the chip hattrick, this birdie on eighteen to finish his first nine at two-under...the Aussie ended the day with a one-under 71.

South Korea's Jin Jeong made a strong run late in the day, setting up a birdie with this iron approach on twelve as he ended the first round with a 68 that leaves him four shots back.

The man in the lead after the first round of the SK Telecom Open is Australia's Matthew Griffin, who just missed breaking the course record with this eagle attempt on eighteen.

An opening 64 and a one shot lead at eight-under over South Korea's Kang Wook-soon heading into Friday.
