The volleyball World Tour Grand Slam of Beijing reached it's climax on Sunday.
Fifth seeds Alison Cerutti and Emanuel Rego of Brazil - the Champions here in 2011 - faced Jacob Gibb and Sean Rosenthal of the USA in the bronze medal match.
The experienced Brazilian pair were rarely under pressure, and won in straight sets 21-13 21-16 to take third place.
In the final, Nicolai Paolo and Daniele Lupo of Italy, seeded 14 and playing in their first ever gold medal match, took on the Dutch duo of Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil.
The Dutch pair were still searching for their first ever Grand Slam win despite three previous final appearances.
They made a storming start and took the first set in decisive fashion, 21-11.
The Italians raised their game as the second set got underway and stayed within touching distance, but were unable to contain their opponents.
Nummerdor and Schuil took the second set 21-16 to close out a valuable win and take their place at the top of the podium for their eighth championship win together but their first in a Grand Slam.
For Nicolai and Lupo it was a first Grand Slam silver for Italian men, while Schuil had the added accolade of winning the most valuable player award for the final.
