England boss Fabio Capello wants to appeal Rooney's shock ban — for getting sent off against Montenegro — which means he will miss all the group stage matches at Euro 2012.

Capello believes the judgment is too harsh.

The FA have yet to receive the written reasons for the punishment from UEFA and do not expect those until next week.
