Kehl anticipates "clarity" on a deal involving the star striker and the Citizens by next week, following recent reports suggesting the two parties have agreed on a five-year contract worth £500,000 a week.

The former Dortmund ace told Sport1: “Erling Haaland deal? I think we will have clarity on Erling in the next week.”

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also confirmed "City are working on it" and "talks have been underway for weeks."

Haaland has taken the world of football by storm ever since bursting onto the scene with Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.

The Norway international amassed a staggering total of 29 goals and seven assists in 27 matches with Salzburg.

The 21-year-old joined Dortmund a year later, where he currently counts a whopping 85 goals and 23 assists in 88 appearances across all competitions.

The Norwegian has been targeted by a number of elite clubs in the last three years.

City are the favourites to trigger his £64million clause in the summer amid their ongoing search for a striker that will fill in the void left behind by record goalscorer Sergio Aguero last year.

But Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked.

Haaland has experienced some injury set backs this season but still managed to register an impressive tally of 28 goals and eight assists in 29 matches.
