PSG willing to push through Mbappe sale to Real Madrid to keep Messi in focus

PSG are prepared to push through the sale of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid in order to keep the spotlight on Lionel Messi and his debut.

Messi is due to make his PSG debut this weekend and the feeling in the French capital is that it is in the interest of the Qatari-owned club to draw a line under Madrid's pursuit of Mbappe so as not to overshadow Messi's first match.

Al-Khelaifi's response was an attempt to do that but Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno, speaking at the Champions League draw, said the Spanish club was 'calm and patient' over its push to sign the 22-year-old forward.

And some reports in Spain even suggested progress was such that Mbappe would be in Madrid on Monday for his medical.

The club want Mbappe to make his debut on September 11 when Real Madrid return to the Santiago Bernabeu in front of a reduced 40,000 capacity.
