Everton stars reportedly want their teammate named
Everton footballers reportedly want their teammate, who has been arrested over alleged child sex offences, to be named.
Police have confirmed that a man was quizzed by police following his arrest last week.
The Premier League club then put out a statement confirming they had suspended one of their players.
A statement read: "Everton can confirm it has suspended a player pending a police investigation.
"The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time."
He has not been named for legal reasons.
But according to The Sun, Toffees' players want the footballer to be named so it puts an end to a guessing game over the player's identity.
A source told the paper: “The players are highly agitated, they are not happy to be dragged into it.
“Senior Everton players have been contacted day and night by other Prem stars, all seeking details.”
The report adds that one star was said to have been "furious to have five missed calls" from the accused teammate.
It came after they were ordered not to contact him, the report claims.
According to reports on Thursday, the player's wife has left their home while he is in a safe house.
He is on bail and denies the allegations, the report adds.
