Carlo Ancelotti's return to Real Madrid has sparked rumours over a potential James Rodriguez comeback, but such a possibility seems highly unlikely for the time being.

James played under the Italian coach at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Everton, but his relationship with Florentino Perez and the fans are not ideal.

Despite having made many friends in Los Blancos' dressing room, fans didn't appreciate his attitude after returning from his loan spell at Bayern Munich.

"Nobody wants me [at Real Madrid] anymore," James said on social media back in February.

Meanwhile, in April he told ESPN that he was close to joining fierce rivals Atletico Madrid the previous summer, when Real Madrid appeared to be willing to offload him.

"I had everything ready to go to Atletico Madrid, but Real Madrid didn't let me," revealed James.

The Colombian playmaker had also made clear that returning to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich was not his first option, but he was forced to do so.

"I am here this year because of the circumstances that occurred, not because I wanted to," he declared in June 2020.

Despite Ancelotti being fond of his qualities, James does not seem willing to play at Real Madrid again and Los Blancos do not appear to be eager to give him another opportunity.
