Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City are doing battle in Porto for the Champions League trophy with 6,000 fans from each club travelling for the match

A sniper has been spotted inside the Estadio do Dragao as Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Champions League final.

Thousands of fans have travelled to Porto for the clash with the final moved from Istanbul to allow supporters to attend.

Fights have broken out between rival Premier League fans in the city in the build up to the clash though supporters were in good spirits on Saturday.

Though officials made sure they had all bases covered with a sniper spotted overlooking the action.

Porto locals are fearing a spike of Covid infections as supporters flood the city with around 40 flights landing from England on Saturday.

All eyes soon turned to action on the pitch with fans having enjoyed the afternoon in dedicated supporter zones.

The zones were only open to season ticket holders, who were then transported to the stadium for the match.

Once those fans had departed, the zones opened to those without a ticket for the tantalising final.

Chelsea had returned over 800 unsold tickets which were part of a charter package which included subsidised flights costing £200.

On fans attending, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said: “I think we can all agree that we hope never to experience a year like the one we have just endured.

"Fans have had to suffer more than twelve months without the ability to see their teams live and reaching a Champions League final is the pinnacle of club football.

"To deprive those supporters of the chance to see the match in person was not an option and I am delighted that this compromise has been found.

"After the year that fans have endured, it is not right that they don’t have the chance to watch their teams in the biggest game of the season.

"Once again we have turned to our friends in Portugal to help both UEFA and the Champions League and I am, as always, very grateful to the FPF and the Portuguese Government for agreeing to stage the match at such short notice."
