Sara Carbonero has shown support for singer Edurne and David De Gea after the Manchester United goalkeeper's penalty miss saw them lose the Europa League final against Villarreal.
The Spanish goalkeeper took United's 11th spot kick on Wednesday, after each of the 21 players before him had scored, but his effort was tame and saved.
Afterwards, De Gea's partner Edurne received a lot of insults on social media, as did the goalkeeper himself.
Edurne denounced the messages on Twitter, writing: "today shows, once again, that there is a lot to do in society to fight against sexism".
On Radio MARCA and alongside Vicente Ortega, Carbonero was asked if she stood in solidarity with Edurne, to which she replied: "always, of course."
